Contraindications (Who should not take Tirzepatide)
Tirzepatide is contraindicated in patients with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) or in patients with Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2). Do not use if you have a known hypersensitivity to tirzepatide or any of the product components.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Weight loss offers no benefit to a pregnant patient and may cause fetal harm. Tirzepatide should be discontinued when pregnancy is recognized. It is not known if tirzepatide is present in human milk; consult your healthcare provider before breastfeeding.
Potential Drug Interactions
Tirzepatide delays gastric emptying, which may impact the absorption of concomitantly administered oral medications. Caution should be exercised when taking medications with a narrow therapeutic index or oral hormonal contraceptives.
